busy times [sorry aquiel - not ignoring you]
working hard, playing a bit.
not much time for art.

OfflineOnline

Mon Aug 14, 2006, 7:15 PM
The exhibition is open, and it look fan-tas-tic.
We had Aquiel and LukeRoberts over for the setup and the opening,
beer sponsorship [thanks Amstel], and a reasonable crowd at the opening.

Aquiel came to Narrogin for a couple of days and went out to some
of the local grunge pits [earthmoving company yard and car wrecker's yard]
taking photos.

Hooray for the net, hooray for DA.
We had a brilliant time with Aquiel and Luke, we
did good things - worked together even
though we have only ever met online.
We made real world friends and met
some other deviants at the opening.

This whole process strikes a positive
blow for online communities, gives
everyone a positive example of how
electronically mediated relationships
don't have to be based on predatory
behaviour or scary weirdness and
might help other people to get
their work out into galleries.

full Speed Ahead

Hi All!

I've been a bit spun out about getting so obsessive.

I'm out of the habit, you see. I was a jeweller when I graduated from
art school, and by definition obsessive, but I haven't had
this level of passion for many years.

I had a wise lecturer at uni who said just before graduation
[when I had made 35 pieces 10 weeks]

"It will take you at least ten years to get back to the pitch you work at now."

It's taken 15. So I'm finding myself scoping everything for shots,
looking at the light and checking my watch, thinking about how I would
set levels on that wall in photoshop, looking at supermarket shelves in
terms of composition...

It's all good, really - I'm leaning into it, and coming back to that art space
that suffuses everything you do with possibilities.

Finding the poetic in piles of shit...

OK, what next?

Thu Oct 6, 2005, 5:26 PM
Hi Everyone,

OK, I had a bit of a crisis last night - the whole DA thing seemed to be getting
out of hand. Admittedly, I had had an apalling day at work, done a lot of miles
gatting home and I wasn't all that rational at the time.

You've possibly noticed that my gallery is empty at the moment.
I was going to quit DA altogether, but I realised that it would leave
too big a hole in my life.

Coldcanvas and I are doing good things,
working together at a professional level again [after many years]
and that, in spite of the amount of time I am spending with the DA
community, the rewards I am getting are definitaly worth it.

Anyway, it was bout time I cleaned out the gallery
and had a good hard look at myself....

Group Show!

Wed Oct 5, 2005, 5:47 AM
Digital Goes Analogue!

We're having a group show! Ten people, all deviants, all
Australians, four exhibitions, a hundred photographs.

Well, it looks like coldcanvas is getting
back into bull-terrier mode - it's project time again.
This is a wonderful thing; I've seen it before, been involved as
a willing [and sometimes unwilling] participant.

Now, I'm not saying that coldie is a completely unstoppable
force, but once the momentum is up, the organising machine
is in full swing and everything starts to happen,
I think I'd have more luck stopping a charging rhino.

It looks like we have venues, everyone's keen to go...

Welcome aboard!
